Who We Are: Mary Grace Zmuda

Long time, no see! Hope you are doing well. My mom forwarded me the "family Q&A" email, but I've only just had the time to sit down and reply.

I am Mary Grace, daughter of Carol (Cozzoli) Zmuda and Henry Zmuda [and granddaughter of Joseph and Martha Cozzoli]. I don't have any siblings.  I grew up in the Panhandle for a few years, but called Gainesville my home for throughout middle school/high school and college. Now I live in Melbourne, FL (I wish it was Australia though!).

No children, unless you count my dog (who lives with my parents) and my cat (who lives with me)! I adopted my cat in the middle of college when he was just 8 weeks old. Now he's 3! His name is Sisko, after a Star Trek captain.

I work in the communications department at an aerospace & defense technology company, L3Harris (formerly known as Harris). I started last May! I'm actually in a rotational program, so I get to experience different areas of communication within the company. I got to work with the creative department (I'm in several photos on the company website), interact with executives, and meet lots of wonderful and smart people.

Ok [what I like to do], this is where I can get carried away...I LOVE photography, videography, horses, and animal training. I have my own website, if you're interested https://marygracezmuda.wixsite.com/portfoliomarygrace. I took a multimedia class in college, where we had to create our own website, but I've kept it up-to-date since! I also love crocheting, painting, and drawing.

But it's horses that truly make me happy. I base most of my photography and videography projects off of horses. When I'm not riding horses, I'm watching videos or reading articles about them. During college, I worked at a private horse farm where I learned most of my "ground work" training. That's when I really dived into understanding the human-horse relationship on such a different level. With horses, it's about becoming their partner and understanding the "why" and having an empathetic mindset (vs. a "punish" mindset).

I've studied natural horsemanship for a few years now and have recently gotten into positive reinforcement training, which I use on my cat. My cat is spoiled, but he does have manners! He can walk on a leash/harness, sit, high-five, "down," wait for food, jump up/go through things.

I would love to catch up, whenever you have the chance. Now, more than ever, during COVID times, I reminisce about when I could travel to NJ and see snow and family. I often remember our times at the Jersey Shore! Those will always be my favorite memories.

Love,
Mary Grace

  1. Hi! It was so enjoyable reading your blog post! I'm a first cousin to your Mom, and we have met a few times, but I believe you were much younger. Your Mom and I have such awesome memories growing up near each other - and though we were a year apart in school, we're only 3 months difference in age - so when we needed a pal for trouble, we had each other!! LOL Those were golden memories for me! The missing person in our three-some, was Nancy DiLiddo Eastlund - I know you will remember her.
I'm now headed over to your website - looking forward to seeing some of those pictures of yours!
Have a Merry Christmas! Love, cousin Eileen
