Who we are : Elizabeth Martha Barros
I am Elizabeth Martha Barros, daughter of Joan Marie Rooney (nee: Cozzoli) and Domingo Miguel Barros, granddaughter of Martha and Joseph Mario Cozzoli. I have three siblings, Joanna, Nancy and Michael, and three step siblings, Tim, Sean and Kris.
I live in La Mesa, CA. I live near Joe and Elizabeth La Costa. Their daughter Diane, her husband Billy, and Diane & Billy's daughter Rosie also live nearby. (Diane is an amazing artist and painted a mural on my daughter's bedroom wall.)
My husband is Jose Orlando Navarro. He is originally from El Salvador, but came to the US as a child. We have three children, Mikaela Beatriz (11 years old), Benjamin Orlando (6 years old) and Elijah Mario (4 years old). I also have two stepdaughters, Gisselle (18 yrs old) and Alessandra (17 yrs old). My husband's 16 year-old half-brother, Nestor Antonio, also lives with us. And finally, we have an incorrigible dog named Buddy.
All of my children are still students. Gisselle is in her senior year of high school. She had hoped to enter the military, but is now reconsidering her post-graduation plans and doesn't know what she wants to do. She loves baking and is considering culinary school. Mikaela loves to sing and loves theater. She just started 6th grade at a performing arts school in the musical theater department, which is pretty tough by Zoom! The public schools here are still doing remote learning, but my little boys recently returned to school in person (they go to a very small parochial school). It definitely makes me nervous, but also allows me to get work done without ripping out my hair (and they are actually learning).
My life right now is work and family. I'm a supervisory attorney at the Federal Defenders of San Diego, Inc., where I've worked for the last 17 years.
I like spending time with my children, especially outdoors. I also like yoga and pilates. I love to travel and explore new places, but don't expect to do that sort of traveling again for many years!

Thank you Elizabeth. The pictures and learning about your family is wonderful. We are so distant, geographically, but this story and others help to keep us closer. Feel free to post some more! (I will also post, as I am a little behind on that!).
